Coco Gauff, the 15-year-old tennis phenomenon, continues to progress into round 16 for this year’s Wimbledon world championship tournament.
Gauff first made national headlines when defeating five time champion Venus Williams, 39, within the first round of the main event. Currently, Gauff is noted as being the youngest woman to compete professionally in the Wimbledon (alongside 15-year-old Jennifer Capriati in 1991).
Gauff went on to defeat Magdalena Rybarikova followed by her toughest match to date with Polona Hercog of Slovenia. Gauff ran the risk of losing to Hercog but managed to comeback by clearing a pair of match points.
Gauff’s next match against 28-year-old Hercog will continue on Monday, July 8th.
