The investigation into Governor Ralph Northam’s 1984 medical school yearbook picture which featured the racist caricature “blackface” as well as a member of the Ku Klux Klan, concluded with no findings or proof the Governor participated in the act.
The infamous photo which is featured directly under Northam’s name in the yearbook alongside his other yearbook photos, created a stirring controversy which prompted an investigation into whether the Governor should continue holding his political position.
The three month long investigation concluded stating no one found from the Governor’s past could corroborate his participation in the racist gesture.
The Governor regretfully admitted on Feb 2nd “I am deeply sorry for the decision I made to appear as i did in this photo” but recanted the statement on Feb 3rd by saying “I believe now and then that i am not either of the people in this photo”.
Even with both a confession and reversal statement from the Governor himself, authorities still did not find any results of the investigation to be incriminating.
