Tennis superstar Serena Williams pushes the limits of fashion with famed fashion designer Virgil Abloh once again for the 2019 French Open.
The custom piece, which is mostly flowy material featuring written female empowering affirmations in French, follows Serena’s infamous “cat suit” and tutu worn at previous high profile events.
The words featured on Serena’s outfit includes “Mother, mere”, “Goddess, Deesse”, “Champion, Championne” and “Queen, Reine”. As opposed to previous years, this new fashion effort was not subject to any controversy or dress code banning.
Nike’s collaboration with Virgil Abloh to design the custom piece innately embraces femininity within the sport as well as strength and resilience.
