Beyoncé revealed her debut self-directed Netflix documentary Homecoming which follows her 2018 journey to Coachella and also added an impromptu live album release to capture the experience through audio on April 17, 2019.
Unsurprisingly, Beyoncé creatively captured the essence of black culture through video as well as audio. Both projects featured everything including an HBCU marching band theme, black sorority and fraternity style choreography, her very own rendition of the black national anthem “Lift Every Voice”, and voice-overs in the movie from black icons such as Maya Angelou, Nina Simone, W.E.B Dubois, Toni Morrison, and Cornel West.
Beyoncé’s Homecoming not only exhibits pride in black culture but showcases it on a global scale for the world to share in the experience.
As an entertainer, Beyoncé continues to raise the bar with her 16-year-old solo catalog. If she continues to go bigger and better…what’s next?!?
