WORTH COUNTY, IOWA–Iowan farmers discover an estimated 140,000 gallon underground pipeline leak, to be known as the largest American spill at present day.

According to sources, the owner of the leaked Iowan pipeline Magellan Midstream Partners has been responsible for several spill incidents over the years.

The most recent leak occurred October 2016 in Nebraska where one person died and 23 households were forced into evacuation. The spill exposed the environment dangerously to anhydrous ammonia, a harmful colorless gas that is known to be deadly and suffocate victims.

As seen in the media, environmentalists and protestors continue to speak against America’s current choice of oil transportation. Opposers have protested as well as presented how leaked oil leads to the contamination of water and other harmful effects on humans in the environment.
