UNITED STATES–Mexican drug lord Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman, former leader of the Sinaloa cartel, has been extradited to the United States to face various prosecutions.

Officials have stated Guzman will be transported via airlift, to withstand federal drug trafficking charges in Miami, San Diego, El Paso, Chicago, and New York.

Guzman’s most known stint with the law was having to be recaptured during his January 2016 Mexican prison escape. Using a man-made tunnel built under the maximum security facility, Guzman was obtained by officials after six months of hiding.
