UNITED STATES–After the popular and electoral votes were determined, Donald Trump becomes the new presidential elect with his opponent Hilary Clinton conceding.

Although Clinton won by nearly 400,000 popular votes from the American people, the electoral college determined Trump as president on the count of electoral votes alone. The same sitation occurred in the presidential race of Al Gore and President Bush in 2000, where Gore won by popular vote and Bush won by electoral.

This year’s swing states that determined the outcome of the election relied heavily on Florida, Pennsylvania, North Carolina, Ohio, Wisconsin, and Iowa (who all voted Republican).
