Rapper Torin of Richmond, Virginia plans to mark his territory in the rap game by taking today’s rare skill of freestyling with him as he builds his rap foundation. As the next generation of Hip Hop, Torin prides in constantly switching his flow (according to the type of song) to set himself apart from his competition.

1. Where are you originally from? Columbia, Maryland

2. What city have you chosen to establish your career? I consider Richmond as a place to establish my career because I started doing music officially when I moved here.

3. Was there any other rappers or artists within your own family that have influenced you to pursue music? My father pursued a rap career.

4. When was your first rapping performance? My first rapping performance was in front of my class in second grade.

5. When did you officially begin writing lyrics and establishing yourself as an artist? I always freestyle but I didn’t officially start writing and recording music until the summer before I came down to Richmond.

6. What music related hobbies do you enjoy? I always enjoy a good freestyle or battle. I feed off of the energy of others around me and it helps my flow.

7. What current project are you working on? I am currently working on my new mixtape entitled Never On Time, which is set to drop late summer.

8. Do you feel that you have progressed from one project to the next? If so, how? I absolutely have progressed from my first mixtape Sorry For the Wait to my latest project Never On Time. I’m always thinking of ways I can get better and reach my full potential as an artist.

9. How do you go about adapting to the likes and dislikes of your fans? Also, why is it so important to you? I always look at the people who support my music for feedback because I’m really not making music for myself, I’m making it for everyone who believes in my music the way I do.

10.How is your rapping technique different from any other artist? My rapping technique is different because of the way I switch my flow throughout my songs. Also when I make a mixtape I try to make sure I talk about as many topics that happened to me personally in my life, that way my audience will be able to relate to my songs.

11.How can readers find out more about you, your music, and upcoming events/performances? I always post any shows where I’m performing on my twitter as well as putting up new music. Also, I’m working with somebody to create my website where I will post new music, upcoming shows, music videos and more.

12.What does the future look like for Torin? I’m confident that ten years from now I will still be doing music no matter if I make it big as a rapper or not. I am just looking to expand myself forward as a rap artist in all ways possible.
