Rapper Ca$h Smith from Bronx, NY

Ca$h Smith, an upcoming rapper from New York, takes his own perspective of music to integrate multiple eras of Hip Hop in developing his individual style.

1. Where are you from? Bronx, New York on 181 Crotona Ave.

2. What childhood experience inspired you to be involved with music? I always liked to watch artists do their thing on music videos and radio stations. It was when I saw my cousin start a group that I decided that this would be my profession.

3. Which artists have inspired your music career? Hands down, I would have to say The Notorious B.I.G. His style and the way he rose to fame drew me into the Hip Hop lifestyle. Also, I would have to say Jay-Z and Mase.

4. What type of artist do you feel is necessary for today’s Hip Hop industry? The industry calls for a new type of artist: a durable ironclad able to merge different genres of music and live in the mainstream.

5. What kind of music do you feel your music fits the most? It sways at times, you know. I really can get on any level whether it’s hardcore Hip Hop, party tracks, or songs for the ladies. I can do it all. I think in today’s industry you have to constantly reinvent yourself. It’s always changing.

6. What impact did you first album make in your community? Luke warm. I was excited to rap but I had a lot of growing to do. It made me more hungry and more ready to polish my craft.

7. What type of fan base do you feel your music attracts? My music attracts all kinds of fans. Overall, it appeals to the thinkers with the wit to break down lines. Most of the time when I rap it’s like a puzzle you have to put together.

8. What artists have you collaborated with so far? Juelz Santana, Mel Matrix, Dave East, N.O.E, Street Scott, Rome Duran, members of Team Arson and a few more local acts. We do a lot of shows. Most recently I’ve opened at First Mariner Arena for Jim Jones and Trina.

9.What upcoming projects is Ca$h Smith currently working on? My new mixtape, Couture Vision, is up next. It’s going to be crazy. It’s based on the transition of Hip Hop made in the early 90’s from the gutter gritty underground sound to the flashy flamboyant couture driven lifestyle we hear about today.

10.What do you feel is the main difference between your craft and those of your peers? My peers have advanced and so have I. The difference is that I’ve stuck to my roots. Overall, I have stuck to story-telling and letting the public know my past, present and future. Not to just show how well I can use metaphors, feel me?

11.Where can readers find out more about you, your music and upcoming events You can look for me on twitter @cashsmith1, Reverbnation, and on my YouTube Channel.

12.What does the future look like for Ca$h Smith? Way more exposure with shows, radio and videos. Overall, connecting with my fans more.
