Rapper Dahc from Prince George's County, MD

Dahc Christian, an upcoming rapper from Maryland, takes on music from a personal perspective to develop his own lane through lyricism, talent, and respect of his craft.

1. Where are you from? I’m from Prince George’s County, Maryland.  There aren’t a lot of rappers from our area who make it a point to put on specifically for our area, so thats what I intend to do.  I’ve lived in DC and VA so it is very easy to rep for the DMV but PG has my heart.

2. When did you realize you wanted to be a rapper? I realized that I wanted to be a rapper during my 11th grade year in high school. My cousin Casinova and I had been rapping since we were 8 and 9, but we only did it to entertain ourselves.  It wasn’t until I played my music for other people that I started to realize I may be better than the average.  These days I believe that I’m pretty nice at my craft.

3. What current artists have influenced your pursuit of music? I can’t really say that I am influenced by any specific artists’ music right now.  I draw on current events in my life when I pen my art.  I think that when you begin looking to others for inspiration is when you begin copying what they do instead of creating your own lane.  I dont care what they say, imitation is not flattery.

4. What type of fan base would you say you have gained so far? My fan base so far has been heavily based in my peer group.  The people that vibe to my music are around my age and can relate to where I’m at in my life because they’re in the same place or somewhere close. My first solo music video for “Chillin” cleared 1,000 views in less than a week.  I think that is pretty dope for my first single from my first mixtape I haven’t released yet.

5. Who have you worked with so far? I keep my circle tight when it comes to the artists that I work with. I’ve worked with Vario Picasso, C. Scholar, Dante Lyriq, and my producer goes by Chopwell.  They all match my drive and are heavily talented.  These are the artists that I want to see succeed.

6. What sets your craft apart from other Hip hop artists? The fact that I am unapologenic about the reality of my situation is what sets me apart.  Im a student of Hip Hop and I’m not afraid to show it.  Eight times out of ten you won’t get a corny dance track from DAHC.  Nine times out of ten when you hear my music you’ll have to respect my wordplay.  Ten times out of ten you’re going to realize that you’re in the presence of a lyricist.  I think that there are a lot of people who exploit Hip Hop and I can’t be one of those people.

7. How personal is your music? Every song that I write is a personal statement. Whether its bad or good, it’s something that I’ve gone through.  I’ve never been good at making up stories, so I don’t try to.  Each track will give you a glimpse into my thought process, my feelings at the moment, or will dry snitch on something that I probably did and shouldn’t be speaking about.  Unfortunately im not very vocal, so my music is my diary.

8. Where can readers find out more about you, your music, upcoming events? Most of my music is passed on through word of mouth.  But I promote a lot through twitter (@PG_Dahc) and YouTube (Dahc Christian).

9.What does the future look like for Dahc? The future of Dahc is looking surprisingly bright.  I never imagined that people would connect with my music the way that they have, but it’s a great feeling.  I have offers for shows, radio interviews, more features than I can count, and I can only imagine where it will go from here. Im D.estined to A.lways H.eroically C.onquer (DAHC).  I used to shy away from the attention my music brought me.  These days Im embracing it with open arms.  There’s no point of dreaming when you can make it a reality. That is what I intend to do.
