Pop and R&B singer AJ plans to maintain his relevance in the industry by incorporating personal experiences into his music while promoting originality among his peers.
1. Where are you from? Philadephia, PA
2. When did you realize you wanted to be a singer? I’ve always wanted to be a singer for as long as I could remember.
It’s my everything and almost nothing holds more meaning for me.
3. What influences in your life led you to pursue music? Wow! To start my grandfather was a singer and I feel like this is
what started me off. Then there is just the feeling that music gives me when I sing. Why do I pursue a career in music? It’s my passion in life! Its my life!
4. How long have you been performing?I’ve been preforming since I was about 7-years-old but before then it
was in church. I’ve been leading choirs since the age of 3.
5. What does a complete performance by AJ consist of? I sing and dance. I basically do whatever it takes to get the audience to feel my performance and to get excited about Aj. My dance choreography mostly consist of hip hop and pop.
6. What genre would you classify your music? The genre of music that I sing is pop r&b.
7. What sets your craft apart from other R&B artists? I don’t like to compare myself to other artists. My gift is special to me because it is my gift.
9. How personal is your music? Does most of your music reflect real life experiences?It’s very personal because I put all of my emotions into it when I record a song. Yes, the music that I write has something to do with my life experiences at one time or another.
